Founded in 2003, and located in Monument, Colorado, Forest Rose Productions (www.forest-rose-productions.com) produces high quality projects that provide entertaining, educational, and/or thought-provoking presentations that meet the growing demands of a broad audience.
Company owner and executive producer, researcher / writer Jan C. J. Jones, has specialized in writing for entertainment media and presentations since 1990.
Forest Rose Productions is excited to introduce its latest projects at the Denver Maker Faire under the general title, “Strange Journey” which will include Jones’ original, 2-hour long (award winning) audio drama “A Journey With Strange Bedfellows” along with its adapted graphic novel, both suitable for ages 12 and up. The Victorian Gothic (steampunk lite) adventure includes 6 short stories that were woven together from (or inspired by) immortal works penned by literary masters Nathaniel Hawthorne, Bram Stoker, Jack London, Jerome K. Jerome, Wilkie Collins, and Hector Hugh Munro (aka, Saki).
The tale follows socially shy Hunter Brown who has loved sweet-tempered Faith Geibel from afar for several years. Now, just when Faith has noticed him (at her cousin’s annual birthday ball), a clockwork dancer murders the guest of honor, its creator dies, and Faith mysteriously disappears without a word. The allure of Faith’s mesmerizing gaze and the incendiary ecstasy borne of their first kiss convince Hunter that his destiny is irreversibly linked to Faith’s; he must find her. Hunter is drawn into a perilous journey that takes him from etiquette-proper Victorian England, into the murderous alleyways of Paris, through Satan’s unhallowed Hungarian forest and eastward to Faith’s Transylvanian origin. The insidious murder of Hunter’s best friend, an unavoidable encounter with a demonic cleric, and tracking a blood trail through a centuries-old graveyard (at night while surrounded by nocturnal predators) prelude Hunter’s discovery of Faith’s long-guarded secret. To remain in her existence, and ensure Faith’s survival, Hunter must make the ultimate sacrifice.
Forest Rose Productions will also give the public a sneak peek at two (2) new game prototypes that in the late stages of playtesting; “Gear Up” – a pattern recognition card game for 1 to 4 players and “Strange Journey” – a Victorian-era inspired strategy race board game where players race to recover and return a lost asset to the Crown. Jones is slated to give a presentation, “Creating for the Edu-tainment Industry.”
